A vet keeps records of the mass and height of each animal he has registered. The table shows the masses and heights of 9 adult dogs which are of the Vizsla breed. The scatter graph shows the information for the first 6 dogs. Complete the diagram, plotting the points for the last 3 dogs.

How to approach this question

1. Identify the data for the last 3 dogs from the table. These are (Mass, Height): (26.5, 65), (27, 65), and (27.5, 66). 2. For the first point (26.5, 65), find 26.5 on the x-axis (Mass) and 65 on the y-axis (Height). Mark the intersection with a cross. 3. Repeat for the second point (27, 65). 4. Repeat for the third point (27.5, 66).

Full Answer

The completed graph should have crosses plotted at the points (26.5, 65), (27, 65), and (27.5, 66).
The data for the last three dogs are:\n- Dog 7: Mass = 26.5 kg, Height = 65 cm\n- Dog 8: Mass = 27 kg, Height = 65 cm\n- Dog 9: Mass = 27.5 kg, Height = 66 cm\nThese correspond to the coordinates (26.5, 65), (27, 65), and (27.5, 66). We need to plot these points on the scatter graph using a cross.

Common mistakes

✗ Plotting the coordinates the wrong way round (e.g., (65, 26.5)).\n✗ Misreading the scales on the axes.
