    Full Answer

    Oxyhaemoglobin
Haemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells that is responsible for transporting oxygen around the body. In the lungs, where oxygen concentration is high, oxygen diffuses into the red blood cells and binds with haemoglobin to form a new compound called oxyhaemoglobin. This is how oxygen is carried in the blood to the tissues and muscles.
